The International Marathon Association (AIMS) put the BA International Marathon on their calendar. They teamed up with Qurable, a 3.0 web company that specializes in Token Gating Commerce, to create the first-ever custom finishers’ medal in token format. For the first time, participants can get a collectible digital medal that shows their finishing times and gives them access to special perks.

The medal, which marathon finishers got for free, is a non-fungible token (NFT) that gives them access to different benefits and experiences. It lets runners join Adidas’s AdiClub loyalty program, which gives them access to a running community, content, and even products that are only available to members. In the Web 3.0 world, this kind of experience is called “token gating,” because tokens are the doors to this bigger world.

Adidas has once again come up with something new by using disruptive technologies that let runners use web 3.0 features and keep track of their progress on the blockchain. Many people tried digital collectibles, tokens, and this new version of the web for the first time at this event.

Qurable and Adidas gave people who finished the 2022 Buenos Aires marathon a one-of-a-kind digital collectible that they could share on the most popular social networks. They did this to try something new and catch the attention of the next generation.

“We started Qurable because we thought Web 3.0 would change the way people talk to each other, and this partnership with Adidas proves it. As a marathon runner, I value both small and big achievements. It would be great to have a personalized digital medal that certifies results on the blockchain in a way that can’t be changed. Even more so when you consider that the medal is the key to special benefits “Federico Garcia, the CEO of Qurable and one of its co-founders, explains.
