The Department of Justice has suggested that Bankman-Fried should limit his phone to a flip phone and only access whitelisted websites

An attorney from the US Department of Justice has proposed in court filings that Sam Bankman-Fried's use of the internet should be restricted as part of his bail conditions, including the use of a non-internet connected flip phone.

The proposal follows suspicions that the founder of FTX had attempted to contact witnesses while on bail for charges including wire fraud and money laundering.

Bankman-Fried's laptop will be limited to a whitelist of approved websites, and his use of video games and other connected applications should be restricted. Bankman-Fried's parents would also need to sign affidavits to attest to the internet-connected devices in their homes, and to ensure that he could not use their devices.

The government proposed the new bail conditions after it was revealed that Bankman-Fried had used a virtual private network, and the judge in the case appeared skeptical of claims that he used the online privacy device merely to watch football.
