Palm Beach Author Says Mar-a-Lago is Now Filled With ‘Vulgar Rednecks’ and All Decent People Have Quit the Club
ReadWell, this is a story that will come to the surprise of no one.Real Estate is notoriously hard to value. It is just that way, all property is different, and any one piece of property is worth what someone’s willing to pay for it. But generally speaking, one won’t miss by a factor of ten. Even missing by a factor of two is pretty ridiculous. But Trump is Trump, and he listed the value of Mar-a-Lago at $739 million when it’s actually valued at closer to $75 million. Let’s say it is worth double the estimate, and it is worth $150 million. That is still off by a factor of four, and we’re allowing Trump to double the real estimated value!Oh, and according to Palm Beach historian and expert in culture, Laurence Leamer, Mar-a-Lago has taken on a sad feel, with a membership composed of “vulgar” “rednecks.”Shortly after Trump lost the election, Leamer said, according to Rawstory:Stay up-to-date with the latest news!Subscribe and start recieving our daily emails. A lot of people have quit Mar-a-Lago. They don’t want their names to be in The Washington Post or The New York Times, and the list of people that have quit, they’ve silently walked out. They don’t want anything to do with Donald Trump. And many of the members, they’re not going there very often, because it’s a very dispirited place. They’re not concerned about politics. It’s a sad place for Trump to be hanging out. It’s not what it was.”But it is the new breed of membership that has fundamentally changed the place now, according to Leamer:No, it has changed. I mean this is a new class of people coming in. These true Trump believers that have the bucks and tend to be a vulgar kind of redneck types and wouldn’t be welcomed in Palm Beach otherwise.”Don’t ask how vulgar rednecks have $200k to throw around in annual dues, but apparently, they do exist.
