NBA icon Scottie Pippen’s NFT drop record sold out in 77 seconds, beating Trump
ReadThe previous OpenSeas sales record held by actor Anthony Hopkins was surpassed by NBA Hall of Famer Scottie Pippen, whose digital asset collection sold out in less than a minute and a half. In October, the NFT collection of Hopkins sold out inside seven minutes.According to Orange Comet, the company that designed both Pippen and Hopkins’ NFT collections, Pippen’s 1,000-piece NFT collection sold out in 77 seconds on Tuesday. Pippen’s NFT loss was overtaken by the week’s highly publicized decrease caused by former President Donald Trump due to the rapidity of the selloff.“After an amazing year for Orange Comet, selling this iconic NFT collection and breaking our previous record with The Fall of Sir Anthony Hopkins is an incredible way to close out 2022 and a tribute to the work our teams put into creating these collections. Here’s a tribute to what you’ve done. Yes, this is a true testament,” Dave Broom, co-founder and CEO of Orange Comet, made a statement.Orange Comet’s Pippen collection, which comprises mostly of digital shoes, is the company’s first attempt to market a group of “digital wearables” it calls “Metawear.” Pippen and Broom have appeared in recent episodes of The Block’s podcast The Scoop.OpenSea data indicates that Pippen’s collection has sold for almost $240,000 to date.In the middle of a protracted crypto winter, the dollar volume of NFT sales has plummeted dramatically, making it difficult to successfully introduce new collections.Orange Comet reports that 33 of the first 1,000 owners of Pippen’s NFTs would receive a set of genuine speakers, much like Trump’s fall. In addition, customers will be able to enter a sweepstakes for a chance to attend special events. According to the business’s website, a holder and a guest would also be invited to Pippen’s hometown. As the market for NFT items plummeted, more money is being invested in boosting the utility of digital assets. Large corporations and artists hope that by offering users particular rewards or the possibility to win prizes, more mainstream customers will use NFTs.Latest NFT News, Trendings and Tutorials, right at your inbox, every Monday Leave this field empty if you're human:
